Disability Benefits

Disability Benefits will be paid in respect of disablement which is attributable to service.

Disability Pension

  • If the disability is assessed at 20% and above, the Veteran may be awarded a disability pension. Payment will be made after the Veteran ends his service based on the substantive rank pay at the time the injury was sustained.

  • This disability pension will cease upon the demise of the Veteran. If the demise is caused by the disability sustained, his dependant can be paid a dependant's pension. For this purpose, a post-mortem report is required to establish whether the death is related to the disability or otherwise

Disability Gratuity

  • If the degree of disablement is less than 20%, the Veteran will be paid only a lump sum of the disability gratuity at the end of his service.

Review of the Degree of Disablement

  • If the Veteran is of the opinion that his disability is deteriorating, he may request for a reassessment of the degree of disablement. The Veteran may contact the DVA for coordination with the Records and Pension Directorate or the Armed Forces Health Services Division for this purpose.

Constant Attention Allowance

  • If the degree of disablement is assessed at 100%, the Veteran may be awarded constant attention allowance at the rate of RM440.00 per month after obtaining the approval of the Armed Forces Council (AFC). This allowance will cease upon the demise of the Veteran.

Education Allowance

  • If the Veteran receives a fixed rate of disability pension (Table 2), his child may be awarded an education allowance not exceeding RM685.00 per annum. The conditions for this allowance are as follows:

    • The child has reached 6 years of age.

    • The family is in need.

    • The AFC is satisfied that education will benefit the child.

    • For a child above 21 years old who is pursuing higher education, the AFC may approve a higher amount.

    • This allowance will cease when any one of the above mentioned conditions is not met.

Refusal to receive treatment:

  • If the Medical Board confirms that the pensioner refuses to receive medical treatment, surgery or recuperation, the AFC may reduce his disability pension.
